musings of a new therapist

My supervisor advised
I  calm the worries
that grew to doubts
which impeded my work
as a trauma therapist.

She reminded me
that even in moments of challenge,
being present
and open
and available
is more than enough.

She suggested I reveal
that I, too, am learning.
That I am no expert
in who they are,
and together,
seek insight.

My supervisor shared
that she, too, has doubts.
If we yield to the unknown,
if we allow the moment to emerge
unencumbered by anxiety and control,
magic can live
and change will be nurtured.
